Mrs. Sarah Davis Simpson, first born of John Alexander Davis and Bertha Thomas Davis, left her earthly home for her permanent one on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. She was born Christmas Day, December 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Simpson in 1985, an infant son and a sister Ruth D. Stegall.
She attended Wingate College & worked many years as a bookkeeper, retiring from Commercial Products. After retiring she happily served at Benton’s Cross Roads as church secretary where she also was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She is survived by five daughters and one son; Sharon Stegall and husband Kenneth, Charlene Parker and husband Doug, Jean Stokely and husband Jim, June Simpson, Corrine Allen and husband Clinton, and son Johnny Paul Simpson. Six grandchildren include; Matt Stegall and wife Chandra, Kenan Thomas and husband Cameron, Sarah and Nathan Stokely, Chanda Clontz and husband Taylor, Cody Allen and wife Brittany.
Seven great-grandchildren include; Olivia and Lane Stegall, Karsyn and Ryder Thomas, Callie Clontz, Clint Allen and one on the way. She also leaves behind two brothers, James and Ed Davis and one sister, Mary Doris Haigler.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Brenda Sizemore and Sylvia Rushing for their support.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
