Mary Lou "Lucy" Helms

Mary Lou (Lucy) Helms, 85, of Monroe went Home to be with her Lord on Monday October 16, 2017. Lucy was born on June 24, 1932 in Wildwood FL to the late Gus and Ethel Stallard. Lucy worked for Monroe Paint and Decorating, R.P. Scherer and Tool Service Engineering, all in Monroe. She loved working in the yard and enjoyed farm life, especially her cows and chickens and Sandy, the family dog.

Lucy was an active member of First Baptist Church Indian Trail and loved the ministry and music of the church very much but most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Sib Helms; children; David (Georgia) Helms, Sybil (Mike) Biggers and Gil Helms; grandchildren, Joseph Helms, Isiah Helms, Boaz Helms, Jason (Arianna) Helms and Jesse Helms; new great-grandbaby, Gianna Valentine Helms; sisters, Janelle Conway and Mildred Moore and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held in the Chapel of McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe on Thursday October 19 from 6 – 8 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday October 20 at 11 am at First Baptist Church Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd. Burial will immediately follow at Lakeland Memorial Park.
