Kenneth Lee Threatt, 70, of Monroe went Home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017. Born in Union County on October 25, 1947, Ken was a lifelong resident of Monroe. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1966 and attended CPCC. Ken served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart and the Commendation Medal. He worked for Southern Bell/Bell South/AT&T from 1967 until his retirement in 2008. Ken served as a board member of the Alpha Financial Advisors and also on the Sun Valley High School Booster Club. Ken was also a devoted coach for his daughter’s athletic endeavors, a loyal supporter of his grandchildren’s interests and an avid Tarheel Fan. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Matthews, Ken served as a deacon as well as a Sunday School Teacher of Andrew I Men’s Class.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sue Birmingham Threatt; daughters, Shanda (Bill) Fangman of Belmont and Allison (Jason) Smith of Wesley Chapel; grandchildren Jack and Katie Fangman and Lilly, Eli, Maggie, Brice, Wilson and Jesse Smith; brothers, Charles (Linda) Threatt, David (Pam) Threatt and Ron (Barbara) Threatt all of Monroe; sisters, Doris Wheeler of Wingate and Martha Burgess of Monroe; aunt, Louise Parker of Monroe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe on Friday, November 3 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Matthews at 2 pm on Saturday November 4 with burial following at Lakeland Memorial Park.
