Kai O'Neal Thomas was born on March 15, 2002. She spent the large majority of her life residing in Albany, Georgia, after her family relocated there during her early childhood. She attended and graduated from Westover High School with the graduating class of 2019.
Having recently moved to Monroe, North Carolina, Kai spent her days caring for children, serving meals to others, and joyfully immersed in the good times that good food and good family bring. She loved cooking, having fun with hair, makeup, & nails, movies, games, and all things laughter.
In addition to the many joys of Kai's life, she also experienced the unfortunate reality of living with sickness. Kai fought a lifelong, 22 year battle with Sickle Cell Anemia. It is with both sadness and hope that Kai's family shares the news of her transition from Earth to Heaven, which took place around 9:30 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Kai's life will be held on April 20, 2024, at 2 PM, at Pioneer Church in Rock Hill, SC (1041 Sylvia Circle Rock Hill, SC 29730).
In lieu of flowers, Kai's family asks that donations to raise awareness about Sickle Cell be given via the fund found at: https://pioneerrockhill.churchcenter.com/giving/to/kai-thomas-sickle-cell-awareness-fund
They also express deep gratitude to all who knew, loved, and cared for Kai during her 22 years of earthly life.
