John H. “Big John” Moore, 68, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2021. Born and raised in Monroe, John had a long career in maintenance with Yale Security, later known as Norton Door Control. He enjoyed working with his hands – whether it be welding, farming, hunting or building his own cooker. When he wasn’t grilling, John was a regular at Hilltop. He picked at people for fun and was loved by all that knew him.
John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Renay Moore; sons, Adam (Heather) Moore, Kevin (Nikki) Moore and Brian (Maegan) Moore; grandchildren, Piper, Amelia, Beau, Kayla, Reagan, Bryson, Salem and Grady and his sister, Ruth (Nick) Stegall.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
