She was born on February 16, 1927 in Monroe, North Carolina to Hannibal R. Herring (father) and Beulah Turner (mother).
Jo was preceded in death by her brothers, Rod Herring, Waylon Herring, JC Herring, and Vernon “Bo” Herring; sisters, Selena (Skeet) Pressley, Genevia Norket, Eleanor King, Junita “Neet” Davis, Nell Hearn, and Eunice Van Pelt.
Jo graduated from Benton Heights High School in Monroe, North Carolina and later attended Kings Business College in Charlotte, North Carolina. She later attended Statesville Beautician School and became a North Carolina licensed cosmetologist.
Jo met Edward Cantor, Jr. in Monroe and they were married on November 24, 1945 in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Jo is survived by her two children; daughter, Eddie Jo Cantor, and son, Dave Cantor of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Lakeland Memorial Park, located at 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, North Carolina.
The family would like to extend their much appreciation to Via Partners of Charlotte, North Carolina (formerly Hospice and Palliative Care) for their dedicated service during this time.
