He was born in Union County on May 25, 1930 to the late Wriston and Eunice Honeycutt.
Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Honeycutt and his brother, Gary Honeycutt.
He is survived by his two sisters, Letha Braswell and Rachel Polk; his son, Roger Honeycutt (Sharon); daughter, Ann Simpson; four grandchildren, Lisa Owings (Barry) of Wilmington, Richie Honeycutt, Matthew Simpson and Melissa Simpson; three great-grandchildren, Mallory Owings, Seth Owings and Scarlett Simpson and special friend Flora Little.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A graveside service will be held Thursday February 11,2016 at 10:00am, in Lakeland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the Honeycutt family.
