Irene Mangum Robinson

Irene Mangum Robinson, 91, of Monroe, passed away at her home on August 11, 2019. She was born in Union County, daughter of the late Clarence William and Esther Walden Mangum. Irene spent most of her life in the textile industry and retired from Newgard Industries, Inc. in 2014. She loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling to the beach as often as possible!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James W. Robinson; her sister, Ruby Helms; her brothers, Clarence Mangum, Jr., Paul Mangum and Carroll Mangum and her daughter-in-law, Gail Little Robinson (Frankie).

She is survived by her sons, William Franklin "Frankie" Robinson (Sonya), James Terry Robinson and Dennis Eric Robinson (Pam); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters, Linda Carraway (Bill); Loretta Chaney (Hayden); sisters-in-law, Elsie Mangum and Janet Mangum.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church with a service to celebrate Mrs. Robinson's life beginning at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Benton Heights Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2701 Concord Hwy., Monroe, NC 28110.
