Born April 30, 1939 in Union County, North Carolina, Fae was the daughter of the late Crawford and Ocie Griffin. A devoted wife and mother, Fae was a shining light not only to her family, but to all who knew her. She never missed an opportunity to visit or call and she was always thinking of others. Her passion was baking and she shared this gift with not only so many in the county but especially her son, James. They were daily in the kitchen together as she passed her love for baking on to him and are precious memories that he will always treasure. She also leaves behind a legacy of giving of herself to others before thinking of her own needs.
In addition to her parents, Fae is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Godwin; brother, Ronnie Griffin; and sisters, Aileen McLain and Frankie Mae Smith. She is survived by her son, James C. Godwin (Betty); grandchildren, Jacob C. Godwin and Brandon J. Godwin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Harvest Grove Church, located at 8708 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail, North Carolina. A service to celebrate her life will be held following the visitation at 12:00 pm.
