Ethel Helms Sustar Stegall, 97, of Monroe passed away on February 16, 2018. A lifelong resident of Union County, she was very involved at Sardis Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and playing the piano and organ. Ethel loved to work in the yard and was proud of her garden; she was full of energy and life. Ethel is predeceased by her husbands, Frank Sustar Sr. and Bill Stegall; sons, Eric Sustar and Thomas Sustar and grandson, Chris Sustar. She is survived by her daughters, Gwen Hartis and Zee (Paul) Hunter; grandchildren, Erica Brooks, John Sustar, Paula Stilwell, Dawn Davis, Chris Hunter, David Hartis, Yvette Zeller; 15 great grandchildren and a sister, Becky Starnes.
A visitation will be held at Sardis Baptist Church in Indian Trail on Monday, February 19 at 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
