Annie Vann Napier passed away peacefully in her home on February 7, 2020. Born October 10, 1925, in Monroe, N.C. Annie was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Arthur Clegg Napier. She was also predeceased by her parents, Vann and Ruby Hinson, her sister, Helen Louise Stegall, her brother, Thomas Ralph Hinson, her son-in-law, Earl Griffin, and her granddaughter, Naomi Vandlen.
Annie is survived by her son John Napier and his wife Shirley, daughter Mary Napier and her husband Dick Vandlen, son Dan Napier and his wife Juanita, daughter Patsy Griffin, daughter Martha Taylor and her husband Donnie, and daughter Julie Griffin and husband Steve and her sister, Frankie H. Little.
Annie is also survived by ten grandchildren, Chris Napier, Maria Samot, Elizabeth Mauney, Leanna Vandlen, Jennifer Whitley, Melissa Smith, Ronald Griffin, William Napier, Erica Henderson, Jessica Drake and Amanda Steele.
She had fourteen great-grandchildren, Isabella (Bella) and Catherine (Erin) Samot, William (Will) Mauney III, Seth and Kristina Whitley, Riley and Hunter Smith, Kylin and Cade Henderson, Aydan, Wyatt and Salem Drake, Taylyn and Levi Steele.
Annie graduated from New Salem High School in 1942. She was a long-time member of Olive Branch Baptist church. Arthur was the love of her life; together they owned and managed a dairy farm for many years. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, friends and community. Her pound cakes were her specialty; she baked and gifted too many to count. Annie was also a skilled seamstress, sewing and mending clothes for family and friends. Annie loved to read, do needlework, enjoy chocolate ice cream, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when her home was overflowing with her family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 8804 Hwy. 218 East, Marshville, NC. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Olive Branch Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
