Thomas Patrick Rainey, age 50 of Monroe passed away Tuesday, October 23rd at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, Connecticut with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Zawistowski) and the father of Thomas, Corinne, and Adam. He is predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth (Dempsey) and is survived by brothers Jack and Charles; his sisters Eileen Atterbury, Margaret Zvalaren, Patricia Salvatoriello, Kathleen Staub, and Betty Ann Ettinger; along with 26 nieces and nephews, and 15 great nieces and nephews; all of New Jersey.
Tom grew up in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, graduating from Pompton Lakes High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Notre Dame, and then went on to receive his Masters in Business Administration from Seton Hall University. He and his wife lived in Florham Park, New Jersey, where they started their family before moving to Monroe. He worked in the medical industry for 25 years where he holds two separate patents. Tom was very involved with his children and their countless activities, coaching numerous sports teams. He enjoyed playing golf with his children and also loved to play and listen to music. His witty humor will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to meet Friday, October 26, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Connecticut. A funeral mass will be at St. Stephens Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, CT on Saturday, October 27, at 10am.
