Thomas F Birch

Thomas is survived by his wife, Julie, his son, Thomas Birch of Brookfield, his daughter Kimberly Carney and her husband Sean, of Fairfield, four grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha, Brandon, and Jordan. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Birch, George Birch and his wife Donna, his sisters, Teresa Schoer, Mary Sier, and Carol Stannard. His in-laws , Lygia Velasquez, Richard Velasquez, Victor Velasquez and Nancy Slaggert, Maureen Birch and several nephews and nieces..

Thomas was born at St. Vincent’s hospital in Bridgeport. He grew up on Bronson Road in Southport Conn. Tom was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and worked at Sikorsky Airport for 39 years. He has a passion for gardening, loved running, ADORED his grandchildren, and was a avid fan of the UCONN Women Huskies and Boston Red Sox.

The family of Thomas would like to offer special heartfelt thanks to all the caring staff at Masonicare of Newtown and especially the Hospice Team for their excellent and loving care, compassion and support. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Krystyna Baczewska, his faithful caretaker.

Family and friends may call the Spadaccino & Gallagher Funeral home 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468 on Wednesday June 27, 2012 from 4p-8p. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 28, 2012 at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima Church, on 46 Church Hill Rd., Newtown, Ct 06470. Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Rd, Fairfield, Ct.
