It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Marie “Pat” Roman, age 91, of Stevenson, CT, who left this world on April 2, 2025, at her home in Stevenson.
Born on June 1, 1933, in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, Pat was a true coal miner’s daughter, the beloved daughter of Mary and Michael Fallat. Growing up in a close-knit, musical family, she developed a deep love for music, learning to sing and play the guitar. As one of 13 siblings, Pat’s sense of humor and wit were legendary, always ready with a joke or a smile to brighten any room. During her years at Dickson City High School, Pat was an active and beloved cheerleader, involved in school plays, variety shows, and ice skating, embodying the vibrant spirit that would characterize her life.
In her early twenties, on a warm February day—so warm she didn’t even need the mink coat her shop foreman had lent her—Pat married the love of her life, Daniel Roman. Their 65-year marriage was a beautiful testament to love, devotion, and partnership. Together, they raised three children and created a family filled with love for one another, a shared passion for roller skating, and travel.
Pat was a true matriarch, her heart full of love and her life devoted to her family. She found joy in taking care of her loved ones—cooking, cleaning, and mending clothes—all done without complaint. Her baking skills were legendary, particularly her raisin bread, nut breads, and cakes, which she baked year-round. But it was during the holiday season that her love for baking truly shined, with pounds of holiday cookies on Christmas Eve, a tradition she held dear.
Her faith was central to her life, and she and Dan were fixtures at New Life Assembly of God in Trumbull, CT. Their unwavering love for Jesus was a beacon to many, providing hope and comfort to those in need.
Pat worked for 35 years at the United States Postal Service, where she became one of the most beloved window clerks in Monroe and Stevenson. Her kind heart and genuine care for others made a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Pat is preceded in death by her dear husband, Dan, her parents, Mary and Michael, and her 12 siblings: Anna, John, Andrew, Mary, Michael, Helen, Olga, Anastasia, Esther, Lovey, Pauline, and William. She was also preceded by many cherished family members, including Tim Wyllie, Tommy and Ana Rombilus, and others who have passed before her.
She is survived by her loving children: Nikki Roman-Wyllie, Daniel Roman and his wife Marilyn Jackson, and Patricia Hollman, fiancé Jim King. Pat’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Mathieu Atkins and his wife Marta, Danielle Roman, Melody Atkins and fiancé Wallace Michaud, and Rebecca Hollman. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Nicholas and Brandon Atkins. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous cherished family members, including Donna, Tommy, Tanya, Scott, Kathleen, Fran and many more.
A funeral service to honor Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, April 12th, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Spadaccino Funeral Home. Pastor Evans of New Life Assembly of God will officiate. A private burial will follow.
Pat’s legacy of love, faith, humor, and dedication to her family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
