Robert Edmond Lemire, affectionately known to all as “Bob”, was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 20, 1946. After residing in Maine through his teenage years, he later moved to Connecticut when he was just 19 years old. He was a graduate from Post University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft where he worked for over 50 years. He was a devoted Christian who treasured sharing his beliefs in hopes to inspire a better life for those around him, and in his spare time, he loved to volunteer at his church, coach his daughter’s softball teams, and was a longtime volunteer for the Trumbull Marching Band and Winter Guard programs. Bob loved people, which made his post-retirement career as a crossing guard for the City of Derby the perfect environment to foster daily conversations with everyone he encountered.
With a cheerful laugh and infectious smile, Bob loved to give back to those in need whenever he had the chance. Because of this, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Connecticut Food Bank. (www.ctfoodbank.org) There are countless people in need throughout our state, and what better way to honor the life of this extraordinary man than to continue in the spirit of generosity which he so enthusiastically revered.
Funeral services will be private and limited to immediate family.
