She was 89 years old. Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 22, 1932, she was the daughter of Anne Katrenik Hammerle and Francis Hammerle.
Marlene was a devoted wife of 68 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a fierce love for her family. Marlene always preached how important it was to cherish one another, spend time together, and of course, take as many pictures as possible for memories. She led by example andfamily always came first. They never doubted her love and feelblessed to hold that love in their hearts. They will miss her birthday phone calls, silly songs, and how often she said, ‘I Love You’.
Marlene was a strong matriarch. A woman of substance and a force to be reckoned with. She was never afraid to share an opinion or stand up for herself. She also had a tremendous sense of humor, even in difficult times, she managed to put a smile on others faces.
She will be remembered for her impeccable style. Marlene loved fashion and to shop for herself and especially for others. She was named best looking and best dressed in Stratford High School. Beyond high school, she always dressed sharP (with a capital P). Favorite pieces including classic denim, a statement necklace, and (most importantly) a good jacket. Her impressive jewelry collection is now worn with pride by her family in her memory. They consider themselves lucky to inherit just a fraction of her good taste.
Marlene always put motherhood first, but also balanced time in the workforce. She worked part-time as a medical secretary in the Bridgeport Hospital Emergency department, and as a receptionist at a local hair salon. Marlene loved being social and could make conversation with anyone. She commanded attention and made fast friends wherever she went. Marlene was also passionate about causes such as supporting Saint Peters Church and encouraging the community to vote. For many years she volunteered at the polls on Election Day. Marlene was also a long-time member of the Eastern Star.
Marlene is survived by her daughter Pamela S. Bohm (Michael) Blasko, son Robert F. (Darlene) Bohm. She also leaves behind grandchildren Brooke Anne (Massimo) Rosati, Kelly E. Bohm (Sasha Marouche), Robert P. (Jessica) Bohm, and Zachary Bohm, as well as great grandchildren, Luke M. Rosati, Mason B. Rosati, and Jameson Bohm.
