James Spangenberg, a long-time resident of Monroe, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. He was 53 years old. Jim attended Masuk High School, Bridgeton Academy in Maine and graduated from the University of New Haven. He was an outdoor enthusiast who was in his element mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking with friends, family, and his dog, Georgie. Jim was a successful salesman of online advertising and an entrepreneur who, with a partner, created the Bush Pilot line of shaving products. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors or working, Jim was perfecting his renovation and carpentry skills – and like his father, always had a project at home. Jim was passionate about family and was always ready to host a family get-together or arrange and outing.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Kathy, and their two very cherished children, Andy and Katie Mae. Jim loved his children with passion and pride and often stated how lucky he was to have married Kathy. He is predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Spangenberg. Jim is also survived by his siblings Lisa Ladasky, Peter Spangenberg and Susan Mahard, and twelve nieces and nephews.
