Edward A. Golda, 68, of Monroe passed away peacefully in his home with his beloved wife, Mary Patricia, by his side on Saturday, June 16, 2012 after a brave fight against cancer. Born on September 18, 1943 in Remsen, New York, he was the son of Stanley and Anna Golda. He was a 1961 graduate of Remsen High School and a 1966 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Edward began his career with Dupont as a research engineer at Remington Arms in Bridgeport CT. He later became a technical representative for Remington Arms and then a marketing manager for Rem-Grit products in Bridgeport, CT. He last worked for Contractor’s Direct in Milford, CT until his retirement in 2008. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Jude Parish in Monroe, CT and a member of their Mission Committee. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, woodworking, photography, and flying his model airplanes. He was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. He was able to fix almost anything and enjoyed doing so. Ed was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patti, his brother Ted Golda of Grand Island, NY and his sister Helene Motyka of Amherst NY, his daughter Melanie Golda Smith and Carolyn Golda Brusca of Mechanicsville, VA and three grandchildren, Emily, Brittney and Michael who loved him so much. Friends and family may call on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, June 22 at St Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT followed by a private burial in St. Johns’s Cemetery on Moose Hill Road in Monroe, CT.
