Dennis was born on September 19, 1952 to Peter and Armida Nordyk in Passiac, NJ. He grew up with 5 siblings and was closest with Frank and Glenn. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and was employed at Bushwick Metals prior to his retirement in 2019. He also ran a personal & business tax accounting practice for over 40 years and had a wonderful relationship with his clients whom he also considered his friends. Sharing pictures of his grandchildren was a very important part when visiting his clients during tax season. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!
Dennis is survived by his wife Lynn of nearly 50 years and he was very proud of his children, Keith Nordyk (spouse Jennifer Nordyk) and Ilissa Karagus (spouse Mark Karagus), his grandchildren Danielle, Jaclyn, Ava, Dylan and Lia. He was an amazing father and grandfather and his love for his grandchildren was his priority in life. He did not miss a birthday or Halloween tradition, like pumpkin picking and of course, going to all the kids sporting events, even after being asked to leave due bad behavior earning him the nickname, Mr. Happy Pants!
Some of the best moments for his grandkids was swimming in the pool, sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa’s house with ice cream and popsicles and waffles were always waiting in the morning. He always went above and beyond for his grandchildren, if they wanted pancakes, Grandpa would come over to the house immediately and make them. He will be deeply missed by his family, but especially by his grandkids.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours, Thursday, August 3rd from 4-7pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home located at 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Dennis’ honor to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. He would always remind you to request a tax deductible receipt!
