his loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Sophie E. (Zaniewski) Vitello. Born in Bridgeport, CT on August 14, 1923
he was the son of the late Michael and Angelina Sciaretta Vitello. Charles was educated in the Bridgeport school system and was a retired Bricklayer
and a member of The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local 2 in Bridgeport for 57 years. He was a very proud World War II Army Veteran.
He fought under General Patton’s command in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns. Serving with the 8th Armored Division known
as the “Thundering Herd” he was honorably discharged and received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, The American
Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Mr. Vitello is survived by his loving and devoted children Michael A. Vitello
and his wife Joan of Monroe, Connie Zerella and her husband Tony of Milford, CT, grandchildren Amy Lynn Zerella of West Haven, CT, Kristy (Vitello)
Mercier and her husband Marc of Monroe, Michael A. Vitello Jr. of Monroe, and great grandsons Trevor Jaynes of West Haven and Griffin Mercier.
He is also survived by his sisters Lucy Jarosko of Derby, CT and Mary Abraham of Bridgeport, Sister-in-law Teresa Vitello of Bridgeport,
Brother-in-law Walter (Zaniewski) Zaneski of Milford, and Sister-in-law Marge Zaniewski of Meriden, CT and many nieces and nephews. In addition
to his wife and parents he was predeceased by two brothers Anthony and Mario Vitello. Friends may greet the family Thursday February 3,
2011 from 4 to 8 pm in Spadaccio and Leo P. Gallagher Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. A mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated on Friday February 4, 2011 at 10:00 am. Guests are requested to go directly to St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main Street,
Trumbull. Interment will immediately follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made
to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108-3272
