A Celebration of Life service for Yvonne Marie Goodwin Ross, 82, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 6, 2018, in the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL, with Reverend John Riggin officiating.
The family will be receiving guests in honoring Yvonne, Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at 3:00 P.M. at Pine Crest.
Yvonne Marie Goodwin Ross was born in Lawrence County, AL, on May 27, 1936, to the late William and Mattie Smith Goodwin and passed away on October 3, 2018, in Mobile, AL. She was a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, where she attended Murphy High School. She received her Bachelor’s in education from Spring Hill College and her master’s in education from the University of South Alabama. Yvonne taught and counseled many students over the years at Murphy and Davidson High Schools. Yvonne was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and always enjoyed singing in the choir. She was part of a group of ladies that would visit the local nursing homes and entertain them with singing. She leaves a legacy of mentoring behind as she loved all of her students through the years.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Dr. Edwin A. Ross, one sister; Billie Arrington, one brother; Bobby Wayne Goodwin and one brother-in-law; Herbert Andrew Schrader II.
Yvonne leaves behind her sisters: Heddy Schrader and Kay Desmond, her stepchildren: Jay M. Ross and wife Shelia, Marla Ross Falls and husband Bailey, her dear, sweet, loving companion who was devoted to her for twenty-four years; Don McBride, four grandchildren: Shelby and Andrew Falls, Allen Ross and wife Claire, Jordan Ross, one great-grandchild; Reid Edward Ross, along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest and sincerest gratitude to Joy, Muffin and Lesita, Yvonne’s dedicated caregivers, for all of their love and support provided to Yvonne and the family during our times of need.
