William Ashurst Ward passed away at his home in Semmes, AL on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the age of 86. He was a longtime resident of Mobile, Al and a native of Montgomery. He was a graduate of Murphy High School, Spring Hill College, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked for the Alabama Baptist Sunday School Board, served as a minister of education and taught history at University of Mobile for almost 30 years. A loving husband and devoted father, he was also a licensed landscape architect, responsible for landscaping many businesses and residences in the Mobile area; winning several Beautification Awards for the former. He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Dauphin Way Baptist Church for most of his life and current member of First Baptist Church, Semmes. William “Bill” is survived by his wife, Deborah Parden Ward; sons, William A. Ward, Jr. (Helen), Bruce J. Ward (Melanie), Justin P Ward (Mary), Christopher W. Ward, Jeffrey H. Ward and daughter, Addilynn R. Ward. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 10:-00 a.m. until service time at Semmes First Baptist Church, Semmes, AL.
