Mr. Loewen retired in 1995 as a District Chief for the Mobile Fire and Rescue Department after 31 years of service. His dedication to the city of Mobile and his fellow firefighters was admirable. He was a member of the Armed Services in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather, who was always there for his family. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons, brothers and dad.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William F. Loewen, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Bonnie Ellis Loewen; his mother, Alice "Detta" Loewen; two sons, Billy (Angel) Loewen, III, Shane (Jamie) Loewen; granddaughters, Ashton and Alexis; grandsons, Christopher and Levi; siblings, Nona (Gene) McGowan, Michael (Karen) Loewen, Christopher (Brenda) Loewen, Timothy (JoAnn) Loewen, Robin (Dale) Watson, Deborah (James) Carpenter, and Rusty (Laura) Loewen; sister-in-law, Rebecca Walters; special friend, Vernon Hall; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, January 20, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
