William E. (Billy) Crabtree Sr. passed away on November 10, 2016. He was born and raised in Mobile, AL. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Gregory Crabtree, his parents, Milo and Juanita Crabtree, his brothers, Milo Jr., Bobby, Alan, John Marvin Crabtree, two sisters, Mary Juanita Fortune and Madeline Kotich, and former wife Mary Jane B. Crabtree. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Harvey Crabtree, his children, William E. Crabtree III, Milo J (Donna) Crabtree, William E. “Willie” Crabtree Jr., Timothy T. Crabtree, Linda M. Crabtree, Candace V. Crabtree, Paula C. (Jimmy) Fox, ten grandchildren, Brooks J. (Valarie) Crabtree, Brett T. (Ashley) Crabtree, Paul E. (Samantha) Crabtree, Kristen Crabtree, Heather Wilson, Jarrett J. (Lindsey) Crabtree, Kellie C. (Darryl) Jones, Jessica Crabtree, Nathan Fox, ten great-grandchildren, Bella Joy Crabtree, Jubilee Crabtree, Rylan J. Golden, Peyton Lee, Chance Wilson, Erin Jones, Emma Jones, Bryn Jones, Dubs Wilson, Jace Phillips, two sisters, Betty Jo Lord and Diane (Gary) Siebert. Billy graduated from McGill Catholic High School after he returned from WWII. He attended the University Of Alabama. He joined the USMC at the age of sixteen and became a member of 1-3-7 and was wounded severely during the campaign of the Island of New Britain and New Guinea. For many years he volunteered at the catholic Boys Home and was fondly called (Coach Billy). He was a member of VFW, DAV, American legion, life member of the Marine Corp league and Devil Dogs 1st Marine Division, Past President of M.S.S., he went into the Soft Ball Hall of Fame in Mobile in 1974. He played in seven World Slow Pitch soft ball tournaments. He loved to go deep sea fishing and to attend Alabama football games. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 14, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will be at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
