Willenia Vonceil Morris Young

Mrs. Willenia V. Young, age 88, entered into rest Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at a local hospital. The family will receive friends Monday, February 22, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Young was born May 13, 1927, in Salisbury, NC, to the late Lonnie Cicero Morris of Cedartown, GA and Cottie Leona Morris Rohr of Salisbury, NC. She was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church and was retired from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department since 1991. She was a graduate of University of South Alabama, Class of 1983, and a member of the USA Alumni Association. Mrs. Young was also a member of the Alabama State Employees Association, RSVP Homebound Ministry, Dauphin Way Baptist Church Women on Mission, a charter member and member emeritus Alabama Silver-Haired Legislature, the Azalea City Republican Women, and served on the board of Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Franklin Young in 1988 and two brothers, Hubbard Bernard Morris of Atlanta and Lonnie Cicero Morris, Jr. of Tampa, FL.

Mrs. Young is survived by her three children of whom she is most proud, James Hubbard (Barbara) Young, Sr. of Fairhope, Linda Sue (Bob) Stimpson of Mobile, and Robert Morris (Cassee) Young of Mobile, six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joe) Sweeney of Oxford, MS, Clay Crutcher, IV of Mobile, James Hubbard (Emily) Young, Jr. of York, PA, Kathryn (Jamie) Arms of Gulfport, MS, Walter Young of Seattle, WA, and Sarah (Scott) Burt of Mobile, three step-grandchildren, Karen (Ron) Steed of Saraland, Keith (Sharon) Stimpson of Saraland, and Ben Nicholson of Albany, GA, seven great-grandchildren, and other friends and relatives.
