Wesley grew up in Mobile, Alabama until his father’s job transferred the family to Union, Mississippi. He joined the United States Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 to serve his country in WW II. He spent his time working in various naval ports in the United States before he was scheduled to transfer to Europe. At this time, the war ended, and he completed his service in Galveston, Texas.
Wesley attended and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. During his time at the University, he met the future love of his life, Anne Cain and they married in 1950. Wesley and Anne returned to Mobile where they started their family and were blessed with four children. Throughout their marriage, Wesley and Anne were members of Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mobile, Alabama.
Wesley’s career began in logistics and ended as VP of Sales in the insurance business with Thomas, King and Roebuck Independent Insurance Agency. His career introduced him to many in the community where he gained many business acquaintances and long-time friends. In addition, his love of golf provided much enjoyment as well as several close and long-time friends.
Wesley enjoyed a long career but the joy of his life was with his loving wife Anne to whom he remained married until her death in 2007. In addition to their four children, they were blessed with four grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Wesley was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Carlysle and Mildred Garner Ferrill, his sister, Marguerite Ferrill, his sons, Bruce Carlysle and Allen Cain Ferrill, his daughter-in-law, Teresa Ferrill, his granddaughter, Crystal Breland, and his grandson, James Wesley Estes.
Wesley is survived by his brother James Paul “Jim” Ferrill, his son Wesley (Ann) Ferrill, Jr., his daughter, Cecilia (Dale) Estes, his grandsons, Joshua (Joy) Ferrill, Joseph A. Estes and his great granddaughters, Layla Duke and Greta Ferrill as well as nephews, niece and friends.
Wesley lived a long and full life. His family and friends will miss him deeply but there is great comfort in knowing he is celebrating a joyous reunion with his wife and family, and will be ready to welcome the rest of us home.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama. Funeral Service will be held on March 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama.
