Don passed in peace and saw his faith in Christ made sight with his family by his side on Thursday September 10th, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. He was 72. His death was due to ongoing health complications.
He was born on January 3, 1943 to Maceo and Mattie Hembree in Laurel, Mississippi. Don was one of ten siblings. As a young man, Don worked in the air-conditioning industry with his brothers. After he was married he worked very hard to start an air-conditioning business of his own which grew to support his wife and children. Don enjoyed traveling, coin collecting, gardening, gospel music and any activity that included his family.
Don was married to Diane Spears Hembree for almost 50 years. They have 4 children and 13 grandchildren. Don was an active member of Woodridge Baptist Church. He was retired and spent most of his time and energy investing in his family and grandchildren in whom he was very proud.
He was survived by his wife, Diane Spears Hembree, their 4 children and their spouses: Don (Jr.) and Linda Hembree, Daniel and Donna Hembree, Dedra and Shane Parker, and Delisa and John Cutts, his 13 grandchildren: Joshua, Emily and Jacob Hembree; Alex, Alison and Alyssa Hembree; Madison, Micah, Makinley and Mikayla Parker; Breanna, Jared and Keeley Cutts, his sister, Patricia Hembree Lambert and his brother, Robert Hembree.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Charles Ray, Royce, Paul, Silas and Thomas Hembree and his sisters; Dorothy Hembree Cobb and Betty Hembree Robbins.
Visitation will be held at Radney’s Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Woodridge Baptist Church on Schillenger Road in Mobile. Visitation will be at 12:00 and the service will begin at 1:00. Interment will take place at Serenity Memorial Gardens on Old Pascagoula Road in Mobile.
