Virginia Roe Veal, 95. a resident of Mobile since 1957, was born November 23, 1919 in Kelseyville CA and promoted to Heaven on July 12, 2015. Mrs. Veal was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Leo Duard Veal, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, and grandsons Robert Burleson and Daniel Genz. She is survived by her children, Judith Dickson (Paul) of Pensacola, FL, Joyce Genz (William) and Stephen (Julie) Veal of Mobile, and Janet Choynowski Farber of Camden, SC. Mrs. Veal is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren. She believed in hard work and equality for women, the strongest woman we have known, running the billing, accounting and financial operations of an active business up to the age of 81. Then she would go home and work in her garden for exercise. She set up, and initially ran the accounting systems for three companies which are still in operation today. First in 1949, the Tulsa Welding School, then in 1962 the welding supply WESCO in Prichard, Alabama, and in 1975 Arc Controls Inc. in Mobile AL. Along the way, she was a member of the first Board of Directors for the non-profit organization the Home of Grace for Women and did the books for them in their early years. She was honored by the Home in 1986 for her many years of service. Mrs. Veal was a current member of Knollwood Church and a long-time member of Fountain of Life in Saraland, where she taught a ladies' Sunday School Class for many years. Tireless in her work for God, she has inspired many and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Atria at Regency, Legacy Group Health Care, Springhill Home Health and Hospice, and the compassion care team of Providence Hospital. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 15, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West.
