Thomas Edward Jackson, 74 of Fairhope, Alabama, died from diabetes complications on January 19, 2024. He was born to Edward T. Jackson and Lillian L. Jackson, who preceded him in death. He lived in Mobile, AL until he graduated from Murphy High School in 1967. The following year, he married Sherry A. Jackson and they remained married until her passing in 2015.
He worked in the international container shipping industry until he retired. He dreamed of living in Fairhope along Mobile Bay and was lucky enough to make that happen. While in Fairhope, he volunteered with the Barnwell Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid lover of Chihuahua’s and loved his sweet dogs, Bailey and Celine.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth A. DeGroot (Rob DeGroot); son, William T. Jackson; sister, Shirley Grimmett (Byron Grimmett); his grandchildren, Ashton DeGroot-Colson (Joshua Colson), Kaelen DeGroot Lynn (Thomas Lynn); Conner Jackson DeGroot (Lindsey DeGroot); Rylee Hightower (Jesey Hightower); and Reid Jackson; and his great-grandchildren, Maddox McClearin and Adeline DeGroot; his nieces, Amanda Lis and Shawn Alfaro, and nephew, Russell Grimmett. His nephew, Jonathan Crouse, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from the graveside in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Pine Crest Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Condolences may be offered at www.pinecrestfuneralhome.com.
