Thomas B. (TTom) Holmes II, a 5th Generation Descendant of Dr. Thomas Galphin Holmes, assistant surgeon and survivor of the Fort Mims Massacre (Baldwin County) of 30 August 1813, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Holmes was a resident of Mobile and former resident of Montgomery and Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rachael Francis Montgomery Holmes, his uncle, Joseph Allen Montgomery, his paternal grandparents, Fred Boyles Holmes, Sr. and Annie Jo Bethune Holmes and his maternal grandparents, James Hearschel Montgomery and Mary Evans Thomas Montgomery. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Thomas B. Holmes of Mobile; two very special cousins, Augusta Brooke Forbes (Robert) Roux of Spanish Fort and Laura Denise Key (Austin) of Mobile; uncles: Fred B. (Carol Ann) Holmes, Jr. of Mobile, William J. Holmes Sr. of Mobile; James (Beth) Montgomery of Mobile; aunts: Delores Ann Holmes (Richard) Falls of Hoover; Alice Faye Montgomery (John) Callaway Jr. of Demorest, Georgia, Martha Ann Montgomery Manley and Helen Teresa Montgomery Trainor, both of Mobile; other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. The Service will be preceded by a Visitation with family and friends at 9:00 A.M.
A Funeral Service and Burial will be held at Montgomery Hill Baptist Church, 13884 Danny Hall Road (Baldwin County Road #80), Tensaw (Stockton), Alabama 36579 on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.
