Mr. Theodore L. Smith Sr. was born January 14, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama to the union of Ellis and Ruth Smith. He was a long-time resident of Mobile, Al. Mr. Smith worked for many years and retired as a professional butcher. On May 11, 2023, at 8:49 am with a quiet whisper and a silent walk, God decided to take one of his precious angels home.
Mr. Smith was loved and admired by many and he never met a stranger. He was a man of many words, always a direct speaker, and spoke what was on his mind. Family meant everything to him. He loved the Lord and frequently shared bible verses and scriptures with family
and friends. He often said “I am not a perfect man but I do his best”.
Mr. Theodore was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Ruth Smith, one daughter, Emerald Smith, two sisters, Barbara Davis, Deloris Watson and one granddaughter Tyese Wallace.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving devoted wife of 26 years Linda Smith; Six sons, one devoted Theodore Smith Jr., Enoch (Greta) Smith, Joshua Smith, Antoine (Iris) Thurman, Terrance Thurman Sr., Leslie (Lacey) Evans; two daughters, Tanya Smith and Jackie Gibson, one sister, Bernice Russell, one brother, James (Barbara) Smith; three sister in laws, Raynetta (Eddie) Davis, Brenda (Lonnie) Rayford, Cassandra (Darrayl) Grove; three brother in laws, one devoted Ledell Thurman, Wayne (Priscilla) Thurman, Dewayne Thurman; Nine grandsons, Cornelius Moore, Semion Smith, Joshua Smith Jr., Taylan Smith, Channen Sanders, Terrance Thurman Jr., Antoine (Samantha) Thurman, Lebron Evans, Leslie Evans; Eight granddaughters, Anterriea Lopez, Mariah Smith, Jaklayn Smith, Zuri Smith, Joidasha Thurman, Leah Evans, Lailah Evans, Morgan Gibson; Two great granddaughters, A’Layah Thurman and Ava Thurman; One great grandson, Cornelius Moore Jr.; Three devoted friends, Ronald Williams, Gilbert Dulaney, Tony Salazar; Three devoted nieces, Marlene Davis-Lilly, Antoinette Foxx, Sheryl Davis; Two devoted cousins, Howard Arnold and Aubry (Helen) Davis; A host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow with military honors at Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile St., Mobile, AL.
