Norman L. Carter and Etta Mae Ellsworth Carter, died on April 11, 2023.
Buddy was the last and only son of their ten children. His siblings include
Etta Lee Carter Sciple (deceased), Margaret Carter Toenes (deceased),
Catherine Carter (deceased), Mary Frances Carter West (deceased), Dorothy
Mae Carter Dolan (deceased), Bernadette Carter McAleer (deceased), Elizabeth Ann Carter Davis (deceased),
Eleanor Carter O’Brien, and Norma Carter Hurley.
Robert was married to Gaydon LaGrave (deceased) his loving wife
and mother of their three children, Robert J. Carter, Jr. (deceased),
Brian N. Carter (Skylar Phillips) and Gaydon Mary “Cricket” Carter. Other
close relatives who predeceased him include his grandsons Joseph Carter (USMC)
and Nicholas Carter and his granddaughter Myra Carter Bergerson. Survivors include
his grandsons Robert J. Carter, III and John Blaze Bergeron of Dunnelon, FL, granddaughter
Jolene Carter, great grandson Blaschka Carter, and his dearest friend of 35 years, Thomasine Cholar and her two children Tech Cholar and Brannon Cholar. He was an uncle to 46 nieces and nephews.
Following his graduation from St. Bernard School in Cullman, AL, “Buddy” attended Spring Hill College.
He worked with his father for 20 years in the magazine distributing business and then 40
years in the sports consulting business. His passions were football and golf.
He was a member of the following Catholic Churches in Mobile: St. Catherine of Sienna,
St. Mary’s, Corpus Christi, Our Savior and St Dominic.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Little Sisters of the Poor followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 10:45. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor or Catholic Charities.
