Robert Marvin Burton, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Fairhope, AL. Mr. Burton served with the United States Air Force, the United States Navy Reserve, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served with the United States Civil Service for over forty years. To say he was a true patriot would be an understatement. He was a wonderful teacher – proctoring Boating Safety and Marine courses for many years – and even teaching Sunday School. Mr. Burton worked with Search and Rescue in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years. He was a member of Fish River Baptist Church. When he wasn’t giving his full attention to his career, Mr. Burton was a jokester who enjoyed golf, couldn’t sit still, and most loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Burton is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edna Burton; and one son, Robert Michael Burton.
He is survived by his wife, Wyneater B. Burton; son, James (Rose) Burton; a daughter, Cheryl Burton (David McDonald); four grandchildren, Summer Burton, Alexis Burton, Haley McDonald, and Dylan McDonald; one sister, Janet Elaine Burton Corrales; two step-daughters, Pam Rosson and Jamie George; one step-son, Bo Buckles; sister-in-law, Allie Pitt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Friday, July 24, 2020, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
