Richard Carroll Holbrook, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in Mobile, Alabama. He was a resident of Satsuma, Alabama for twenty five years. He was born to Marvin Eugene Holbrook and Sylvia Evans Holbrook on June 22, 1948 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Richard was a graduate of Mississippi State University, and had a fulfilling career in the mental health field – specializing in drug and alcohol treatment. His last place of employment was Holman Correctional Facility where he worked to improve the lives of the inmates on many levels. He enjoyed boating on Gunnison Creek behind his home, gardening and watching Mississippi State football games.
Richard was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sylvia Vick.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 23 years, Mary Cummins Holbrook; daughter, Carole Anne Dozier (Lafe); a son, Jordan Kendall Holbrook; step-sons, Paul Tudor Tate IV (Allyson) and Simmons Leath Tate; grandchildren, Sophia Cooper, Evie Tate, Paul Tate V, and Angel Dozier; four sisters, Gerry Bond, Frances Schubert (Earl), Maurveen Jarrett, and Cheryl Holbrook; brother-in-law, Carlton Cummins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A graveside service will be held for Richard on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery.
