Raymond “Curtis” Zirlott, 83, was born November 28, 1938 to the late Henry and Alma Johnson Zirlott and raised on the banks of West Fowl River in Coden, Alabama. He passed away peacefully at his home in Coden on Monday, January 3, 2022.
He was a commercial fisher, carpenter and welder.He and his son Pete, built a shrimping boat together named the Captain Pete. Curtis loved the water and spent most of his life shrimping with his son Pete. He could fix almost anything and never hesitated to help someone who needed is skills. He loved sitting on the front porch swing or around the kitchen table just drinking coffee spending time with his family and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alma Zirlott, loving wife Frances Nelson Zirlott, brother, Mitchel Zirlott, Odie Zirlott,sister, Myrtlee Cooper, brother-in-law, Bennie Cooper, sister, Mildred Brown, brother-in-law, Vester Brown, brother, Truman Zirlott, sister-in-law, Helen Zirlott, brother, Oliver Zirlott, sister, Janice Bosarge, sister, Marietta West.
Mr. Zirlott is survived by his son, Curtis "Pete" Zirlott. He is also survived by his grandsons Curt (Briana) Zirlott, Pete Zirlott and several great-grandchildren, sister, Marie Murray, sister-in-law, Audrey Zirlott, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Zirlott, brother-in-law, Gerald Bosarge, brother-in-law, William West, nieces, nephews, many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 7,2022 at Zirlott Road United Methodist Church, 14891 Zirlott Road, Coden, Alabama 36523 with Bro. Robert W. Reed officiating under the direction of Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Oddfellows Cemetery,12450 Irvington Bayou La Batre Highway, Bayou La Batre, Alabama 36509.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Zirlott Road United Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
Honoring Curtis as pallbearers will be Pete Zirlott ,Curt Zirlott ,William Lightfoot, Matthew Nelson, Robert Snyder, Michael Williams and David Woolverton.
