Mr. Raymond Scott – a native of Bradford Yorkshire, England and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1961, died Monday, May 7, 2012 in a local retirement community. Mr. Scott was a graduate of Wheaton College. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving as a corporal in the Pacific Theatre. He ran cross country in college, played church softball until the age of 67, and was an avid tennis player having played on the seniors U.S.T.A. team which won a national championship. Music was an important part of his life. He played the trumpet and served as music director at Crawford Baptist Church in the 1960’s. Mr. Scott was a longtime member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, deacon-emeritus and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Clement Scott and Florence Amelia Helps Scott and two brothers, Sid and John Scott. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosella Scott; four daughters, Connie (Jimmy) Little, Bonnie (David) Duval, Patty Easley, and Kathy (Bill) Tate; two sisters, Dorothy (Jack) Cavanaugh and Mabel (Dave) McKerron; eight grandchildren, Audrey Easley, Rae Murakami, Scott Duval, Yoshiya Watanabe, Jerry Easley, Melissa Bauman, Mandi McCoy, and Greg Rogers; eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Mr. Scott will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mr. Scott’s family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to his caregivers, Caroline, Debbie, Jessica, Julia, Kay, Latesha, and Shirley. Mr. Scott was a loving and fun husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved and served the Lord with all his heart.
