Rachel Wilkinson Christensen

Rachel Carolyn Wilkinson Christensen, a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, died on October 15, 2013 due to an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 22, 1930 in Coden, Alabama, the daughter of Byron and Eldora Wilkinson. She graduated from Alba High School in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, and she moved to Mobile soon after graduation. She met her husband Chris, a young Navy pilot, and they were married in 1953. He died in 1954, and she never remarried. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she was a very devout Christian woman.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Eldora Wilkinson, husband, James “Chris” Christensen, great-grandson, Lander James Johnston, and eight brothers and sisters, including an especially close sister, Elois Perkins. She is survived by her son, James Bradley Christensen, granddaughters, Jamie Christensen (Brad) Johnston and Brenna Christensen, great-grandchildren, Owen Johnston, Bryce Johnston, and Addison Johnston, and one sister, Lucille McCrory.

Graveside services will be held at Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10 a.m.
