Peggy H. Wilkinson, wife, mother, grandmother and teacher was a force to be reckoned with, both in her compassion for people and her beautiful zest for life, both of which were only overshadowed by her God-given natural beauty. She will be remembered for many things including her ability to be there every time you needed her with words of wisdom that both lifted your spirits and soothed your heart. She also exhibited a keen ability to see the best in everyone and share a positive outlook on every situation, even in the darkest of times.
Peggy would want us to be happy that she has moved on to a better place, a place where she is free to love, to teach and to share her compassion, free at last from the cruelty of Alzheimer’s. Heaven has truly brought home one of God’s brightest angels.
Peggy was born March 6, 1945 to parents Edgar A. and Mary C. Hergesheimer (deceased), joining sister Anne H. Petty. She grew up in Mount Vernon, AL and attended Citronelle High School where she met her future husband, Ronald E. Wilkinson. Peggy went on to attend college, first at Livingston and then at Auburn University where she joined Ron in college. Peggy and Ron were married in 1967 and soon after college, they began their life together, welcoming their first child and daughter Rhonda in 1970 and son Damon in 1974. The family began their journey first in West Palm Beach, FL and soon moved to Mobile.
Peggy was a devoted mother and wife and fulfilled her life raising her children, loving her husband and teaching a love of the sciences to thousands of young students in Mobile. In fact, Peggy taught for more than 20 years in Mobile, leaving a legacy of love and learning that is a testament to the success of many men and women in this area and beyond.
Peggy is survived by her husband Ron E. Wilkinson, daughter Rhonda D. Wilkinson, son Damon E. Wilkinson (wife Crystal L. Wilkinson), sister Anne H. Petty, (husband Greg Petty), grandchildren, Grayson E. Wilkinson and Preston E. Wilkinson and cousin Nancy H. Seibt.
