Peggy Oneal Moseley, 84, of Mobile AL, passed away on November 9, 2023 after a prolonged battle with multiple health issues. Peggy was born on July 22, 1939 in Moundville, AL to Willie Oneal (Joe) and Lula Belle Lewis. She lived a rural life with brothers Billy and Jerry and graduated from Moundville High School in 1957.
During her high school career Joe Lewis worked for the Alabama highway department and moved Lula Belle, and Peggy to South Alabama after Peggy’s graduation leaving younger brother Jerry with family in Moundville to finish high school. The family moved to Loxley, AL for a period of time and beautiful Peggy became good friends with Elouise Moseley, who being a good sister, quickly introduced her to her brother, Robert (Bud) Moseley from Robertsdale. The tall, handsome man became devoted to Peggy and began courting her. They were later married in 1960.
Bud was a mechanic and moved where jobs were more plentiful in Mobile, AL. They lived in an apartment on Broad St, then to house in Saraland where Robert, their first son was born. They then moved to a rental house on McArthur Street in Mobile where Randy (Boo) was born. The family finally moved to a house that became a home in west Mobile on Oak St off of Airport Blvd. Peggy resided there with family from 1970 until her death in 2023.
Peggy was a homemaker but decided to work at Wal Mart so that her boys could have the little things in life. She loved them to distraction and invested in them, enabling them to participate on youth sporting teams throughout their childhood even though times were hard. Peggy filled her home with warmth and love for her family. When the boys left home and embarked on their lives, Peggy participated by traveling abroad to Germany, and later Key West, Hawaii and Wisconsin to be with the family even though she often had to travel alone.
Peggy is survived by her husband Bud, her sons Robert and Randy (Boo), grand children Melia and Daniel, and great grandchildren Adeline and Anders. A memorial service will be held at Solid Rock Church on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00am. The address is 11400 Tanner Williams Rd., Mobile. Reception to follow.
