Paul B. Mareno

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wildon Mareno, Sr. and sister Annette Monette Mareno.

He is survived by his widow, Diane Butts Mareno, his daughter Ashley Mareno Kuhr (Jeff), his grandson Brady Kuhr and granddaughter Carson Kuhr, his three brothers, G. Wildon Mareno ( Mary Lou), Joe Mareno (Martha), Noel Mareno (Pat), and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Paul had a wonderful childhood growing up on Dauphin Street near St. Mary’s where he attended elementary school. He graduated from McGill Institute in 1969 and became an Airborne Ranger with the National Guard. Paul’s strong work ethic was demonstrated early on. While in high school, he worked for Pollman’s Bakery and after graduation, he joined the Southern Electric Supply Company where he excelled as one of the top salesman for many years. In 2000, he joined the Irby Electric Company/Sonepar, the largest privately-held electrical distributor in the world, where he was honored for his outstanding service and recognized as a top salesman for many years. Paul’s goal was to complete fifty years in the electrical/industrial/safety products industry, and he achieved his goal. Naturally charismatic, Paul found his niche working with people in a competitive business where he excelled. He was well liked, respected, and trusted by his many clients, and he will surely be missed.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed running, biking, fishing, hunting, skeet-shooting, and listening to music at the Flora-Bama. He remained in excellent shape throughout his life. A determined athlete, Paul competed many 5K and 10K races, a marathon, and a 100-mile bike ride. All his life, he was determined to win and be on top, and that is how he will be remembered: a winner, the man on top who never gave up.
