Dr. Norman Jack Berger – a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama peacefully passed at his home on July 4, 2019, at the age of 90. Norman is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Berger; daughter, Karen Vanore (John); son, Dr. Harry Berger; granddaughter, Sara Rewkiewicz (Jas); sister, Ros Berger; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Leah Berger.
Dr. Berger attended Tulane University, the University of Alabama, and Spring Hill College before receiving his dental degree from Loyola Dental School in New Orleans, Lousiana. He practiced dentistry for over 50 years and treated all those who worked with him, as well as his patients, as family. He proudly served on the Mobile County School Board for 12 years, many School Board Associations, and on the Board of Directors as well as President of Congregation Ahavas Chesed.
The family would like to thank Kathy, Nancy, Queenie, Seketha, DeeDee, Terrance and Wende from Bright Star along with Belinda, Carri, Terri, and Johnny from Kindred Hospice and barber, Chris, for their help and support.
Graveside services will be held at the Ahavas Chesed Cemetery on Owens Street, off of Virginia Street, with Rabbi Steven Silberman officiating, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019.
