Nellie Faye Murphy

Mrs. Nellie Faye Murphy, age 89 passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Monroe, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Clarence Roberts Murphy, parents John W. and Thelma Brazzel, sisters Geneva C. Munson, Kathleen Johnson, Artie Vee Stabler and brothers John W. Brazzel and Wuyman Brazzel.

Mrs. Murphy was a faithful and active member of Government Street Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved singing in the choir. She was a cosmetologist and owned her business. She was also an instructor at the School of Cosmetology. She was a resident of Mobile until November 2018 when she moved to Crossett, AR to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a devoted grandmother to her granddaughters, great and great-great grandchildren. She was an animal lover and enjoyed bird watching and playing the piano. Her greatest memories where those spent with family and friends.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her daughter Patricia Murphy Higginbotham (Gary). She was known as Mamaw Murphy to her three granddaughters, Autumn Smith (David), Landra Hartley (Josh), Kayla High (Colton), nine great grandchildren, Nick Smith (Sami), Jessie Croswell, Lanee Swan (Thayer), Jacob Smith, Beckham Hartley, Briston Hartley, Pace Flowers, Bruinne Hartley and Dylan High and two great-great grandchildren Brentleigh and Haven Swan.

Graveside services will be held for Mrs. Murphy at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama on Thursday, September 7, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
