She was born on July 30, 1929 to Grover and Gussie Winslow in Isla, Alabama. Following her graduation from Silas High School, she moved to Mobile where she pursued a career in retail. Mildred and her beloved husband, Connie, were married June, 12 1948 and made their home in Mobile. They were founding members of Saint Pius X Catholic Church, where they were prayer group leaders for many years. After relocating to the Eastern Shore, they became parishioners at Christ the King Catholic Church. On June 14, 1998 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends at the banquet hall at Bayfront Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Connie Jones, her parents, Grover and Gussie Winslow, her brothers Grover Winslow and Bo Winslow, sister Helen Taylor and son Wayne Jones. She is survived by her son Mark Jones (Anita), daughter Donna Tirpak (Garrett), daughters-in-law Carole Jones and Julie Jones; seven grandchildren Lindsey (Ben), Brennan, Bryant (Keri), Tyler (Amy), Brittany, Tara (Trent) and Bradley (Maddie) and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Edith Glassman, Jean Mosley, Evelyn Black and Stanley Winslow.
The Jones Family could never thank enough Stephanie Broughton whose care allowed Mildred to spend her final months in the comfort of her own home. Mildred was also cared for by Katherine Winston, Shay Durgin and Camilla Wilson as well as the compassionate team of Gentiva Hospice.
On Monday, October 28, there will be a funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the Immaculata Center at 10:00 am. Interment will follow mass at Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Burse Club Archdiocese of Mobile, or Catholic Charities of Mobile.
