After a valiant struggle with cancer, Michael Howard Davis went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 19, 2018. George and Louise Davis became proud parents of Michael on June 15, 1955 in Birmingham, AL. Growing up, he lived in Bessemer, Pine Hill, Cullman, and finally Huntsville where he graduated from Lee High School in 1973. He spent one year at the University of Alabama at Huntsville before moving to Mobile. Switching to the University of South Alabama, he received his degree in electrical engineering in 1977. His engineering career spanned Corning, Ingalls Ship Building, James River, Rust, Volkert, and Project Design Group. He was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church and an active member of the Men’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Arlene Williams Davis; sons, “Beau” William Michael Davis and Jonathan Robert Davis (Shallon); daughter, Bonnie Arlene Davis; mother, Louise Williams Davis; and sisters, Connie Alleen Davis Thielen (Joseph) and Aleta Louise Davis. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces.
Music, his motorcycle, and woodworking were his passions and hobbies.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, George H. Davis; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis, Mrs. Ferris Davis, Mr. and Mrs. George K. Williams.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Crawford United Methodist Church, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at Crawford United Methodist Church at 7470 Moffett Road, Mobile, AL 36618 or to the American Cancer Society.
