Mary Evelyn Moncrief

Mary Evelyn Moncrief - age 87, homemaker, nurse's aide, and lover of everyone who entered her life passed from her earthly life into her eternal in Chandler, Arizona on Friday, March 15, 2013, surrounded by her family. Known as "Sis" to her extended family, she loved to laugh and spend time with others. She enjoyed traveling and lived in Mobile, New Jersey, Texas, and Arizona throughout her life. Evelyn was a member of Airport Boulevard Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, worked in the nursery, and taught VBS. She enjoyed league bowling until her early 80's, fishing, gardening and watching sports, especially Alabama Football. Born January 4, 1926, to Alma Maybelle and Robert Lee Carter, Evelyn's abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, caring for others, and sense of humor defined Evelyn's life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Captain Joe R. Moncrief, and twin brother, William M. Carter. She adored her children, Bob Moncrief (Donna) and Mary Anne Moncrief Sage (Ben), and grandchildren, Susannah, Nathan and Ryan Sage. Celebration of her life will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 22, 2013, from 6-8. Interment will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
