Margie Brantley Gray, age 90, passed away at her home in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born February 24,1932, in Mobile, Alabama, she lived in Alabama, Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania, but spent the majority of her life in Houston. She worked for Webb Builders Hardware for over 15 years and served as President of a small manufacturing company at a time when few women held executive positions in the industry ultimately serving as a great mentor to her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Upon retirement, Margie enjoyed “collecting” – beany babies, art-work, and purses - shopping at Chico’s and sporting around in her Miata.
Survivors included daughters and son-in-laws Lisa and Bob Olexy of Fort Myers, FL, Jackie and Loran Gerstung of Brodheadsville, PA, and son, Woodie (Buzz) Gray of Houston, TX, grandchildren, Wendy Olexy McAninch, Amy Claus (Mike), Emily Olexy Hayer (Josh), Matthew Gray, Kristopher Gerstung, Victoria Gerstung, and Lexie Gray, great-grandchildren, Shelby McAninch, Rhett McAninch, Grant Olexy, Hunter Hayer, Campbell Hayer, Lilian Gray, Mason Gray, Braydon Schafer, Chloe Gerstung, Harper Gerstung, and Liam Gerstung, and a host of nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Addie Hudson and Woodie Lee Brantley, her husband of 62 years, Jack O. Gray, sisters Claudia B. Hodges, Dorothy B. McIntyre and Helen B. Mann, and brother Woodie Loyd Brantley, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Pine Crest Funeral Home,1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum.
