Mamie C. Odom quietly passed away after 108-years upon this earth. Christine began life on April 13, 1913 in Vinegar Bend, Alabama to Julius and Cora Alford. She moved to Mobile during the depression to work at a local paper mill. In 1939 she married Herbert Odom. Christine loved to do her gardening, was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She and her husband Herbert owned and operated The Big Pig Restaurant and the Patio Grill. Together they raised two daughters, owned two restaurants, and brought great joy to the many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Granny was loved and she will be greatly missed.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Odom, her daughter Carol J. Taggart, and her great-grandson Joshua Summey. She is survived by her daughter Olive E. Stoner of Mobile, Alabama, sister Erline Newby, five grandchildren; Dana Schottgen of Pensacola, Florida, Van Taggart, Jr of Grand Bay, Alabama, Vickie Summey of Theodore, Alabama, Cara Dyess of Mobile, Alabama Tracy Smith of Charlotte, NC., and her niece Mary Dennis Odom of Mobile, Alabama. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
