Lloyd Nelson Jarvis

Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Jarvis; parents, Samuel and Ella Jarvis; and his brother Wayne Jarvis.

He was born November 26, 1933 at his family home in Semmes, AL to Samuel and Ella Creighton Jarvis. He graduated from Semmes High School in 1952 and followed with service in the United States Airforce. During his service he met Nonie Dean Caldwell. They were married June 1, 1957 in Shreveport, LA.

Nelson was a barber for over 60 years. He was a faithful man and served in his churches, Semmes First Baptist and Crawford Baptist, for many years as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and choir member.

During their 46 years-long marriage, Nelson and Dean were blessed with three daughters: Cindy (Robert) Dillard; Priscilla (Rad) Bradford; Julie (Wayne) Wright; followed by seven grandchildren: Robert (Tarah) Dillard; Zach Bradford; Lauren (Joseph) Bender; Jason Wright; Andrew Wright; Sara Wright; and Emily Wright; and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Vaun (Carol) Jarvis and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Crawford Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Semmes First Baptist Church Cemetery.
