Linda Faye Burns Calhoun, a 69 year-old native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died at her family residence on Friday, January 20, 2017, surrounded by her family. She graduated from Bishop Toolen High School in 1965. She retired from USA Department of Neurology after serving as secretary to the chairman for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, and enjoyed participating as a volunteer for the Catholic Engaged Encounter, as well as many other ministries of the church. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her 10 grandchildren. She also enjoyed music, reading and traveling with her husband. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Deacon James C. Burns and grandson, Joseph Michael Calhoun. She is survived by her loving mother, Maxine Moody Burns Duke; devoted husband of 46 years, Calvin Owen Calhoun; children Jennifer Elayne Calhoun Caine (Jared), Michael Owen Calhoun (Elizabeth), Melissa Louise Calhoun Overstreet (Jimmy) and Brian Alan Calhoun; grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Caine, Lauren Elizabeth Calhoun, Lindsey Michelle Calhoun, Amanda Leigh-Anne Caine, Katelyn (Katie) Marie Calhoun, Emily Louise Caine, James Connor Overstreet, Christian Alexander Caine, Parker Matthew Overstreet and Jack Owen Overstreet; sisters, Betty Burns Mayes, Cheryl Burns Pierce (Joe), and Dianne Burns Ewing (Dan); brothers, Eddie Burns, Billy Burns, Alan Burns (Kim) and David Burns; 13 nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, from St. Monica Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Cink, Reverend Cu Minh Duong, Reverend Eamon Miley and Reverend Matthew O’Connor concelebrating. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Following the services, there will be a celebration of life at the Heritage Room at Pine Crest. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 26, from 5 to 8pm at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Pallbearers are John Eccles, Donald Denham, Michael Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Ronnie Wheeler, and Ricky Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. William (Bill) Hamilton, David Enfinger, Mike Pace, Mike Slocum and Ward Heinz.
