Kenneth “Ken” Dwight Harper, Sr. of Semmes, Alabama was called to his Heavenly home on Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on November 21, 1949 he is the son RB and Louise Rockwell Harper and and the late Ruby Rogers Harper. Ken spent his life working in the family business, Harper House Movers, serving the Gulf coastal areas of MS & AL. He was fun-loving and a very generous man. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Ken was strong willed in all his endeavors. He definitely had those “Harper” genes.
Ken never let a day go by that he didn’t strive to be the best man he could be. A man his Earthly Father would be proud of. He always put his best foot forward, striving to be the best role model for his children.
Over the years, Ken made many friends that have followed him throughout his lifetime. He was a man to be counted among the best and will always be remembered as such.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Harper, his oldest son, Kenneth D. Harper, Jr, and his brother, Ronnie Harper.
Left to cherish Kenneth’s wonderful memories will be his father, RB Harper, his three children, Vickie (Joe) Pettis, John (Stacy) Harper and Dallas Harper, his three sisters, Lanelle (Ron) Goins, Linda Wilson and Tuwanna Hobbs, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his beloved dog, Dixie.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude and love to Joyce Portis and the SAADS Hospice Community for going above and beyond to care for Ken. He especially enjoyed when Joyce would come by, just to share a cup of coffee. Joyce was a special angel sent to Ken during his last month’s here on this earth.
A show of gratitude, love, and appreciation for his sister, Linda Wilson, who shared her home with Ken, along with the help of his sister, Tuwanna Hobbs and his daughter, Vickie.
A special thank you to Bro. Leslie and Sis. Deborah Rhodes for all of the love, prayers, and friendships.
Honoring Ken as pallbearers will be Koleby Harper, Hunter Harper, Hunter Overstreet, Tony Wilks, Andrew Dixon, and Brady Dixon. Honorary Pallbearer will be his loving dad, RB Harper.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, to begin at 8:30 AM until time of service at 9:30 AM at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606.
Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pine Crest Cemetery West, 1599 Snow Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
